PLEASE NOTE: THIS SOCCER LEAGUE IS ONLY FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF BROWARD COUNTY. PLAYERS THAT DO NOT FIT THE PREVIOUS DESCRIPTION MAY BE ALLOWED TO JOIN THE LEAGUE; HOWEVER, THOSE PLAYERS MUST GAIN PERMISSION FROM THE LEAGUE DIRECTOR. IF A PLAYER REGISTERS AND IS NOT PRE-APPROVED, THE PLAYER WILL RECEIVE A REFUND, BUT A $15 PENALTY WILL BE CHARGED.
The Broward Academics’ Soccer League is a great opportunity for employees of the School Board of Broward County to exercise, socialize, and relieve stress in a fun yet competitive league. This 11 v. 11, co-ed league contains players of varying skill levels from beginner to advanced.
Games will be played at City of Plantation fields (either Pine Island Park or Central Park). Games will be on Friday evenings at either 6:00 or 8:00 p.m. There will be one practice scrimmage, eight regular-season games, and a post-season tournament for the top four regular-season teams. Each regular and post-season game will be ninety-minute games officiated by two (2) referees.
Registration is done individually. The cost of the registration includes fees for games, referees, t-shirts, and the City of Plantation (for lights, lining the fields, etc.). Registration is currently open and is done on a "first come, first serve" basis.
In the past, the league has had four teams with approximately 22 players per team. Hopefully, this season, the league will be able to facilitate five or six teams. Because the league may expand, the teams may need to be rearranged. If a player has a certain request (i.e. being on the same team with a relative or close friend; requesting a certain team captain), he/she should provide that information on the online registration in the section marked "Additional Comments”. The league director and the captains will try to honor these requests. At this time, you will not need to note a preferred jersey number under the comments section.
First place teams will receive Joimo Champion t-shirts and will also have first choice for their team shirt color. The second place team will have second choice for their team shirt color.
The league is currently only open to School Board employees but may be opened up to others soon, so make sure to reserve your spot as soon as possible!
